Donkey Coffee

I've only been to Donkey a couple times but I absolutely adore it. The cozy atmosphere, everyone's so polite. It's a great place to just hang out with a friend or study or whatever you need to do. 10/10 would recommend.

The place I first got a love for coffee. About 16-18 yes ago I came to this place, and it was a frequented place with friend's drinking coffee and listening to local bands and poetry. The chi is legendary and the coffee today was excellent. This will always be a part of my heart as I travel the world of coffee. Oh and by the way the staff was knowledgeable and extremely kind and helpful. Nostalgic

I graduated from Ohio U just last month and for weeks now I have been trying to find a comparable coffee shop in my new residency location. I spent a large portion of my college career in Donkey Coffee. I have made countless memories there due to their inviting environment and cheerful staff. I love their coffee and baked goods, especially the blueberry muffins! I studied for almost every test I had there and did majority of my homework there- I even had a few interviews there for my healthcare major. I truly earned my degree in Donkey Coffee!! Also they are open 24 hours a day during finals week which I always took advantage of. No matter what type of background you have or what hobbies/interests excite you, Donkey is a place for everyone. I wear my Donkey sweatshirt (that I earned with their rewards points program) very prOUdly!!!

Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place and the prices were really good. the staff was nice and kept the long line moving. i liked the seating arrangements. However, i give it three stars because i didn’t like the taste of my coffee at all. it was too bitter for me & didn’t have enough vanilla flavor and also felt some wheat grainy. i may have gotten a bad coffee, so i still say try this place out

Great coffee and atmosphere! Lots of options. Tons of little books and crannys to hang out in. They also have outdoor seating areas, and host live music.

Not sure how I’m just now getting around to reviewing Donkey as I’ve frequented this shop for years. The mocha is my personal favorite but their chai and lavender beverages can’t be beat. Pastries are always on point. Customer service is excellent. If you’re not sure what to order, just ask; they won’t steer you wrong.

Friendly service and good coffee. A very laid back atmosphere, artsy and edgy, and definitely a popular spot on a Friday afternoon for the coffee-loving crowd. Lots of seating to sit and talk with friends or to work alone.

This place is amazing! The first time I went in there I had no idea what to order and the kind guy who was working there asked me a bunch of questions on what I liked and decided from that a drink to give me. It was an iced vanilla chai tea and is literally the best drink I’ve ever ordered from a coffee shop. The only thing that keeps me from going everyday is that it’s very expensive. Love this as a treat every so often!

Latte was great. Coffee had flavor and wasn't too hot or cold. Plenty of cozy seating available. A lot more intimate than Starbucks!

Best cappuccino in town! No other cafe in town has a Cubano, or authentic Italian-style cappucino. The competition offers up a milky monstrosity with barely a hint of espresso and call it a cappuccino. If I want a latte, I will order a latte. Otherwise, give me the real deal! Donkey delivers with a rich beverage finish with creamy, thick frothed Snowville milk. I am a dedicated customer! They also serve fair trade beans, and switch the variety out weekly. Craving sweets with that brew? They have cookies, muffins, chocolate bars, and other goodies.

Great little place to get coffee in Athens. Parking is the most inconvenient thing though. Athens' popo's give you a parking ticket for just about anything.

Absolutely love it here! I had to buy a pound of their coffee beans because Maxwell House etc just doesn't compare!!

Absolutely the best coffee shop in Athens Ohio. A warm and cozy atmosphere that anyone could be comfortable inside. The baristas arr some of the nicest people you will ever meet. It is a great place to hangout or study. If you are interested in more than just studying or lounging they also have an open stage!

Very fun environment for college kids, sells art on the walls which sometimes looks very psychedelic and cool. Claims to support the bean farmers, dont know if there is truth to that but those cups are biodegradable I know that. Small coffee is like 4 bucks too.

It really goes without saying. Anyone who lives in or near Athens knows about this place and the incredible wonders within. Donkey coffee is a staple in the community, and unrivaled in quality, service or taste. There is, has never been, and I dare say will never be a better coffee joint in existence.

Donkey is an amazing coffee shop with a cool eclectic vibe. It is so quintessentially Athens, especially with their support of local culture with spoken word sessions, open mic, and acoustic music artists. The espresso drinks are some of the best I have had anywhere, and that includes NYC, DC, SanFran, among others.

I love Donkey Coffee!! They are always super nice, they play good music, and they make the best cappuccino in town. Go there. You won't be disappointed :)

My favorite coffee shop on the planet!

Hands down , absolutely the best coffee and freshest pastries . Went two days in a row because it was so good . If you are a chocolate lover I recommend their chocolate cherry cookies , heat it up for 15 seconds , melts in your mouth.

You can’t find a better coffee shop in town. The coffee and beverages are excellent, the baked goods are to die for, and their stage attracts some great local talent. The ambiance is stellar, I can’t recommend this place enough.

The Hot chocolate (with almond milk) was so exceptional! Can't stop thinking if it! Yum!

Appreciably hipsterish atmosphere and coffee that ranges from good to odd. Espresso is recommended over drip. Mostly fair trade ingredients. Biscotti and date bars highly recommended.

Seems like nice enough of a coffee place. The employees were definitely nice. My only problem is that if you don’t live nearby, parking can be an issue if you want to be there for awhile, cause then you’re practically buying another cup of coffee with what you gotta pay for on the parking meters.

My favorite coffee shop! If only I lived in Athens....
